What about Salt?

Okay, i admit it.....I'm a saltaholic!!! Yea, yea, I know all the bad stuff about salt, but I use light salt and avoid most problems. If and when I use TOO much regular salt, I do tend to retain water, which I know can raise blood pressure, etc. But my question is, I haven't heard anything about avoiding salt after surgery. Are we supposed to? Is there something about the surgery that would make anything any different regarding salt? Or just the same advice to avoid excess salt, period, that is always given (surgery or not)?????Thanks!

I dont know about after surgery but I had super high BP before surgery and I switched to salt sense and it helped alot. It does not taste that much different than regular salt. Maybe you can try that and see what you think. I tried the Morton salt substitute but it sucks. LOL Suzanne 300/150
