Hi everyone. Has anybody else had slow weight loss in the beginning? I'll be 2 weeks out tomorrow and have lost about 10 lbs. (33 lbs since my very first Dr.'s visit) The scale hasn't moved in 4 days. I know everyone is different... and I would love to get away from the scale, but I just keep thinking it's got to move at some point! I'm following everything best I can. Calories are between 300- 700 per day and I'm getting in as much protien and water as I can take. I'm also walking every day. Anyway.. just curious if anybody else seemed to lose slower than expected. Blessings, Kim

Hey Kim, It sounds like you may have become a victim of the scale. So for your own mental health ~ STAY OFF THE SCALE!!! Honestly when your losing you should only weigh yourself once a week. When you are maintaining your weight then it's alright to weigh once a day. You have to get your calories up to at least 600 minimum per day. At first this is not easy but if you want to lose that is what you have to do. If you don't get enough calories your body will go into starvation mode and will hold on to every thing you eat, thus you don't lose the way you could be losing. I hope this helps. Best wishes to you Kim. God bless you, Annette

Be patient Kim, you are only 2 weeks out. Most people feel like they are slow losers but infact the first two months your body is making the decision on how much weight it wants to let go of and how fast. This is a shock to your body and the only thing I can suggest is to rev up the cardio with power walking. I remember my first month weight loss was about 15 pounds, if you lose another 10 pounds in two weeks your first month loss will be 20 POUNDS! Even with WLS it takes time and patience to get to goal. Take care, Janice

Dear Kim, I agree with Annette and Kim. Everyone is different and I didn't touch a scale for at least one month out. It is imperative that you remember, "a watch pot never boils!" That means (in case you don't) if you watch the scale it won't go down as fast!!! It's true!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe being 2 weeks out you have hopes set high and those hopes will be accomplished but give yourself and your new body time to adjust. I lost 24 pounds in the first month, and from there is just melted away. You're doing wonderfully and don't let this worry you, just stay off the scale for now!

Hi Kim,I just read your profile and It looks like all the hurdles you had to jump only made you stronger Getting up in front of all those people and have them judge you and vote if you should have surgery or not!! Girl that was brave You are gonna be someone who can help the pre-ops jump those hurdles and give them strength to be brave when they want to give up. I don't know if this is true but I heard somewhere if you lose weight fast you will have more loose skin than if it comes off slow? But any way it will happen and 10 pounds is great !!! **sunflower**

Thanks Sunflower!!! That is so sweet of you to say. My husband tells me how brave I"ve been also, and yet I didn't feel like I had much of a choice... I truly hope God will use me to help others.. whatever His will is. Thank you for the encouragement. Sometimes we lose sight of all we've done to get to this point. This was the biggest and most difficult decision I have ever made in my entire life. I want to be successful and positive. I appreciate your kind words. Blessings, Kim

You're a female. You lose slow at times. Get off the scale. It will happen. Slower loss makes for better skin later. Now go drink a glass of water and take a walk. kp

Weight loss won't be overnight. Also remember, that you were pumped full of fluids, so that weight needs to come off first. Take a deep breath and say "it will come off, it will come off!" and remember it will take time!!

Hi Kim, I know how you feel, I'm two and half months out and I'm down 45 pounds. I work in a doctors office so at first it was hard for me to stay off the scale becasue I was looking at it for 9 hours a day. But you will drive your self crazy if you keep jumping on the scale to quick. I think my shock value has gone away so know I only weigh maybe once a week. I know its easier said than done but try to stay off the scale for atleast a week or maybe two, increase your cardio and maybe when you weigh yourself again the scale will move down.
