I got a call about an hour ago from Dr. Pesta's office. It seems that BCBS of Texas flagged me when the hospital submitted the information for my surgery on Monday. We have made calls to my husband work/HR department to get the required information the hospital is looking for. BCBS of Texas told Dr. Pesta's office they did not have the information on the exclusion clause (you are the insurance company and don't have the information then how can you flag it???) My husbands HR department has to get the information to Dr. Pesta's office by 3 pm or they are going to cancel my surgery for Monday. Michelle

Oh my, Michelle, you have gone through more than your share of angst with this! I will keep my fingers (and toes) crossed to make sure that all goes as planned. I would be so disappointed if my surgery was cancelled at the last minute. It's enough of an emotional roller coaster to begin with, let alone to have something like this happen. Wishing you the best Julie in Ludington

Here it is, 2:30 pm. I have 30 minutes left until the surgery will be cancelled. Shelly (Dr. Pesta) called Ellen (hubby's HR person) and got some pages from the insurance booklet faxed to her. The exclusions show no WLS EXCEPT for morbid obesity, providing the patient meets the criteria. Another thing that was brought up was whether or not I had insurance the 67 days preceeding my husbands insurance. I had to get ahold of someone at my work and have them fax the certificate over to Shelly showing my insurance ending date was 7 days after my husbands started. Just got a call from Ellen and she was told by BCBS that it was not understood why I was flagged. There was nothing in the records requesting additional information and I was approved for surgery, inpatient stay, prescriptions, blah, blah, blah.... ALL IS A GO FOR MONDAY!!!! Thank you for your support! Now I need to do something to destress from the past few hours. Michelle
