Can I stay overnight?

Hi Everyone that's responded to all my questions.... My husband has a date set up for lap RNY at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital for 7/27/06. We are flying in from Oregon on the evening of the 25th, and will do all the pre admission testing on the 26th. We'll stay the first two nights at a hotel, I think the Fairfield Inn, before he goes into the hospital. Does anyone know if they will let me stay overnight with him the two nights he is recovering? Not that my lifes dream is to stay in the hospital when I don't have to, but when I was recovering from a gall bladder surgery a couple of years ago, I really appreciated waking up and just having him there. It will also save the cost of two nights in a hotel room that's only for me, too. Then after the surgery we'll go back there for 4-5 days. If they won't let me stay with him, then I'll just keep the room for the whole time, I think. So, anyone know? Anyone having surgery around the same time that we could meet up with? Thanks to all the people who have responded to me...I really appreciate it. I actually hover over the computer and feel seperation anxiety when real life interferes. LOL. Is it going to be really hot at the end of July? Here in Oregon we get around 102 but it's pretty dry. Please write and let me know, anything that I might find helpful, even if it's off topic. Thanks again everyone! Kim

All I can resopnd to is the weather, I was in a different hospital. Probably will be 80s or low 90s but the chances of high humidity and rain are good. They tend to run the air conditioning colder here in hopes of chasing the dampness. Or at least that's what this Central California transplant thinks. You might call the hospital directly and check on staying with hubby. Is he assured a private room? Best Wishes!

Hi Kim, Most hospitals will let you stay, but there are rules to be followed. Who is the surgeon, and what hospital will it be done at? God bless you, Annette

Dear Kim: My advice to you is to double check with the hospital. I had my surgery in Ypsilanti, MI and they were very strict on no overnight visitors. Best of luck to you and your hubby! Maria W.

Hi Kim I didn't know POH had a bariatric program, i'm surprised. It is an excellent hospital, they take wonderful care of you. I only live a few miles from there, maybe i can help you out. I'm not sure if they will let you stay, but let me know if there's anything i can do to help you out. Hugs Linda
