I know someone posted about if your liquid protein counted toward your fluid intake. I just saw my NUT and she said yes you can count that as your intake. I found out today that my 2 week fast is going to be harder then I thought. I thought I would be able have cream soups, sf pudding, and sf ice cream. OH NO!!!!! Just broth, protein drinks and crystal lite type drinks. THIS IS GOING TO SUCK!!! LOL But, I am going to try to be strong and do the best I can. I have to start this on monday! argh lol. di

Are you talking about the Ready to Drink Isopure? I did double check with my NUT and she said that as long as I am not using it as a meal replacement I can count it toward my fluids. I am so glad I didnt have to do the fast. I will be over before you know it though, hang in there. Hugs, Stacy

I swear so many people say different things. My NUT said it could be used as both protein and fluid. Who knows. I am going to use it as both though. LOL that way I can hopefully get all mine in at first. That is my plan. Can't hurt I guess. I know the fast is going to KILL me LOL I am truly going to try and do this. I am giving it to the Lord for strength. LOL. That is all us poor girls can do! Thanks for the feedback. Di

I purchased chicken noodle soup, french onion and vegetable soup for when I come back home next week. Broth can be so bland sometimes, so I figured I could drain the liquid from the soup and have something that tastes a bit better. Michelle

Do you think that would work for before surgery as well? I bet that would be better then what I had in mind. LOL the thought of chicken broth or beef broth grosses me out. LOL it is so bland. GROSS!!!!!!!!! LOL But, if that is all I am allowed it is better then water!!!!! Thanks for the feedback. Di

I don't see why you could not do that. I have to do clear liquids on Saturday and Sunday and plan on using the regular soups, drained, in addition to broth. I also have Ms. Grass chicken soup. My son loves the noodles. So he will get the noodles and I will get the rest.

I was just told that AFTER surgery any and all liquids, including protien count towards your 64 oz. of water. At this point there is no way you will get everything in and if you have to choose between liquid or food - choose liquid. You would die from dehydration before you would from malnutrition.. so for the first 6 weeks after surgery concentrate on liquids..and yes, your protien counts. I have to tell you that the 1 week liquid diet before my surgery was one of the most difficult things I've done. Be strong - keep your eye on the prize and take it a day at a time. It will help prepare you for what's to come after surgery. After a few days on the diet your cravings will go down - just don't let yourself fall into "dreaming about what you can't have"..that could be trouble and bring on a uncontrollable craving... so if you feel yourself starting to obsess over something you can't have just deliberately change your thought process to something non-food related. It's hard but you can do it! Good luck! Kim

Thanks Kim for the advice. I am really going to try hard to do the liquids. I am going out Monday to buy a "goal" outfit and we are hanging it in the kitchen LOL My family are all so supportive. They are great. I actually woke up today with a calm feeling about the whole thing. The power of prayer still amazes me. I am going to do great! I am just going to give it to the Lord! What else can a girl do right! LOL Thanks so much for the advice. I agree with you too about the liquids. I am going to drink as much as I can and worry about food later. At least until it starts to cool down a little. It is so hot all I do is drink all day now anyways. How are you doing after surgery? Di
