I am scheduled for surgery July 10 in Warren with Dr. Woods. My problem is that I still smoke occasionally. Do you think I will get denied last minute? Maybe I should call them and be honest. I am in CT now staying with my parents. My husband had an affair, for those of you who didnt hear and we are moving back to CT to work on our marriage. However, I kept my surgery date in MI because i didnt want to go through the whole approval thing again. I really want the surgery, but I can't seem to stop smoking totally. What do you all think?

Kevin just gave you some great advice, and I will add my 5 cents: When I attended my 20th high school reunion, all the girls who smoked in high school now had wrinkles around their mouth and face. It made them look much older. I'm glad that I never got started. Both of my parents smoked - at one point they were smoking THREE CARTONS a week, but that was when they were $10 a carton. Stop smoking and take that money and save it for the tummy tuck you will want in a year or so!! Dad quit smoking 20 years ago after he had a heart attack. Mom still continues and sneaks. She will probably be on oxygen in the next few years. She turned 65 today - and dad is 70 today.... Remember, you don't need cigarettes to live!! Keep posting on the board!!

Hey there girl! I am SOOOOOOOO glad to see you posting again. I have been thinking of you! I am so proud of you that you did not cancel your surgery! This is the best thing you can do for YOU! I know smoking is not a good thing. I know a few who have had the surgery and still smoke. They just have to stay on prevacid so they do not get ulcers. It isn't a good thing to continue though and as soon as you could stop would be WONDERFUL!!!!! I know it is hard when you are going through emotional crap to give up not only food but smoking. You probably feel like you wouldn't have anything of comfort left am I right? But you can do this! If I were you I would give them up right before surgery and have a whole new beginning wouldn't that be wonderful! A whole new you! Good luck sweetie and let us know how you are doing! Best of luck on working things out with hubby too. I truly wish you all the luck girl! You deserve to be happy! Hugs, Di
