vomiting again 1 1/2 yrs out
I am 1 1/2 yrs. post op and have been having trouble keeping meat, chicken etc. down again. Also feels like my pouch is smaller again since I can only eat a few bites before feeling stuffed. Seems like I read somewhere that this is fairly normal at this stage but I can't remember the source. Has anyone else dealt with this?
I still hurl every once in a while. In fact just a week ago. It comes and goes but I can usually attribute it to something I've done or not done. Sometimes it's eating too fast or not chewing and last week it was carrots that tasted to good to be true. They had a glaze on them. I should have stopped at two but the fourth one got me. I knew it was too much but I am invincible and ate it anyway. I gave it back to them 15 minutes later.
Chicken and beef gets stuck periodically but I wouldn't rule out what Theresa said about the stricture. We can still get them way out and some strange scares too for that matter.
Cold makes things shrink. Cold drinks before we eat can make the pouch feel small and limit capacity. Could this be it?
Anyway ask your doc's office about it too and let us know what they come up with.
Good luck.

Sally,
Please call your surgeon!!! I spent over a week in the hospital recently, they could not find anything wrong when looking with the scope, the ultrasound was negative, the CT scan was negative and yet I could not hold down even liquids....the culprit found only with a exploratory surgery....adhesions, so bad that they made my intestines look like rope. It was rough! By the way, I had mentioned exactly the same feelings you are having to my doc for about 5 months before it got so bad that I ended up in the hospital, so please call and call again if you have to, but get this looked into.

Jill, thanks for responding. I did have a twisted bowel (internal hernia) in December. Like you, nothing showed up on the CT scan but I had incredible pain any time I tried to eat. Soft foods and liquids passed ok but nothing else. Dr. Gluck didn't waste any time and scheduled a scope. I thought I was going in for endoscopy but discovered that he planned a laparascope. Discovered and repaired the twist. The fat loss had left the bowel loose enough to twist around itself so he anchored everything down again. I'm not having pain at all right now. Just feel more like I'm 4 months out instead of 1 1/2 yrs.
