Kinda funny--got hurt twice this weekend and went back for more!!!!

It's kinda funny now, but at the time, it wasn't!!! I went out to the Ranch this weekend (where I work with horses) and on Friday, one of the horses accidentally stepped on my right foot, causing my baby toe to be fractured and my toe next to it badly bruised. (I went to "Ready Care" here to make sure nothing serious had been broken****pt it elevated and iced and took Tylenol for pain. It just looks really nasty!!! So I went back for more on Saturday. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. Why? Because I love horses, and this is the place where I feel like I am contributing and being given so much. And, I went back to conquer my fears of being stepped on. So what happened Saturday? I was dismounting my horse, my foot got caught in the stirrup and I landed right on my bum. I was more concerned about being stepped on by my horse so I rolled over about 5 feet from him and laid there laughing. I got up and didn't feel anything was broken, more dirt covered than anything. So, it has definately been a weird weekend. I'm not usually a clutz but this weekend was pretty strange for me- though the first horse stepping on my toes did not know that was my foot, and when you are working with 2 other people to feed 12 horses, you best get out of the way!! Course, NOW I say that!!! And me falling off Victory? My foot simply got caught. Woops. Things happen, but I've learned in life when you take a fall, get up and keep pursuing your dreams and conquer your fears. And that's just what I did and I am glad I went back out. Funny thing? I'll probably return this coming Friday. I might have to start a website link called "STACEY'S SPILLS"...... Stacey

I'm glad you are ok now Stacey! I am so jealous of you getting to go and be around horses. I now have 46 acres and my hubby won't let me get one, because he says they are too expensive !!! If I ever talk him into it, I will need your expertise though. I really don't know anything about horses except how to get on and ride a little. Wendy

Well, with my lovely expertise this weekend, you might want to "rethink" the idea!!! Honestly, sometimes you can find places that will teach you and it's not that expensive, and also, I dont know how far you are from Mount Pleasant but Jodi is always looking for volunteers. And yes, sometimes we get to ride -- ok, I have all but 1 time I went out there. I can't explain my love for horses, I grew up with them in my backyard, in the back of our pick up truck, and in the back of the house I stayed in at my Grampa's. So they are like a pet to me. Now these horses out at the ranch were simply "donated" to them. Look for shelters or places that might allow you TO ADOPT A HORSE, one that is in need of a home, etc. Talk to your husband about being that instead of "buying" a horse. That way, it's like saving a horses life, and you feel like you are doing good at the same time. You can do searches online also I would imagine. I'm not sure how far you might have to travel to get the animal, but if it is a dream you want, then do what you need to do to make it happen! I will not let my injuries from horses stop me from loving them nor being near them ever. It was minor. And I'm fine. Thanks! Stacey
