Any thoughts on this??
I am waiting on my approval from BCN...
So today I went to my PCP. It has been 1 month since my yearly physical and my blood pressure is still out of control (it's been this way for 3 years now). He put me on another medicine and hopefully that will work. (It already makes me feel like crap so we will see!) Anywho...he proceeded to tell me that he talked to BCN and he told them he didn't give me a referal to go to my surgeon's office. OK..how big of an idiot does he look like...BCN has a copy of the referal in front of them and this fool is telling them he never gave me one. Not only that but his office forwarded all my medical records to the surgeons office so they could be submitted to BCN for approval. My PCP and I have talked about the surgery he said the only thing I don't have is 12 months of exercise...ok I am 432 lbs...how much exercise I am going to be able to do. Isn't it a little risky for me to be doing too much when my blood pressure is 170/118? My blood pressure wasn't even that high when I had my son and they put me in the hospital on bed rest and this fool thinks I should be out doing 60 to 90 minutes of walking, swimming etc.... I honestly think he has fallen off his rocker!!!
I can honestly say that I don't think I am going to get my approval! I think he may have just ruined it for me. I don't know what BCN could say for their reason for DENIAL. They can't say I didn't have a referal because I do. I just don't know.
Any thoughts?
Stacey ,
I know what your going through I also had trouble whith my Dr. But let me ask this in
your life have you did other execise programs .Like curves for woman , ywca, carb diet,Tops ect. Being heavy we try anything new to see if thats the key that works .Write down what you have tried & how long as well as how much you mite have lossed .They think just because we heavy that were lazy .We didn't get this way over night and the harder we fight to drop a pound the more finds us .Don't give up FIGHT WITH ALL YOU ARE !!! hugs sue
Yes, first thing I'd do is get a new PCP! He's no good for you if he doesn't understand your needs. Sometimes I wonder if doctors like that just like you to be sick, so you keep coming and coming to them with problems. Jennifer is right....I've seen this so many times with BCN...denial, appeal-usually denied, then in-person appeal and you 99% of the time get approved. It's the game they play, which is sad. Your life hangs in the balance while they screw around. DON'T GIVE UP!!! Fight them tooth and nail. Sending prayers your way! Theresa
As far as the exercise is concerned - just walking right now would be considered exercise. I have heard that some people can only walk a few feet before getting winded, but slowly they are able to build up their time.
Also, walking in a pool will be a big help on your joints....
Remain positive, ok? This may be a piece of cake (pardon the pud) or you may have to fight to get approved. DON'T GET DOWN AND DON'T GIVE UP!! Get a new PCP if you have to!
