Need help in finding WLS in SE Michigan
Ok, I thought I'd mention Hurley Bariatric Center in Flint since nobody has, yet. They are certified as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Their program is great. They are a complete program as well, with full nurse staff, and two dietician/nutritionists all right there at their cinic. Do lots of research. Ask the surgeons lots of questions. Although, your insurance may dictate where you can have your surgery, still do your research. I researched 3 different "in-network" facilities before I chose Hurley.
Good luck with your decision and your journey!

I had my surgery at Barix in Ypsilanti. Everything was AWESOME. I have never been treated so good at any other hospital. Dr. Poplawski did mine, I had to wait a bit for an appointment with him, but I knew he was the one I wanted to do it. They have support meetings at the clinic the 3rd Saturday of each month. Best wishes on your journey.

Hi Jami, everyone here has given you some excellent choices of places to go, I figured I would throw mine out there as well. I am going through Dr. David Chengelis, he works out of William Beaumont Royal Oak, his number is (248) 288-1660. I really like Dr. Chengelis he truly cares for his patients even though I have not had surgery yet, I am scheduled for July 18th but Dr. Chengelis himself called me yesterday to schedule a final appointment with him. Just do your research and find out as much as you can about the programs and/or doctors before you make your decision. Good luck and if you have any questions, just feel free to e-mail me at anytime.

Hi! I just had my surgery on the 20th, through the Cori group. My doctor is Dr. Kole. I was very impressed with everything! My room was huge and the nursing staff waited on me hand and foot. I had a pain pump, so that really came in handy. I have nothing bad to say at all about my stay. I had a complication. I had a cold last week, and once I had surgery that turned into Bronchitis. At first they though I might have a leak. I had a temperature spike, rapid pulse, and pain. They immediately ordered an xray. I didn't have to do a thing. The xray technician came to my bedside and they got the xray that way. In the morning I was tested for a leak. That is when they determined it was bronchial. They started me on anti-biotics and breathing treatments. As of yesterday, my fever is gone and I have been doing my breathing exercises. Also pre-op, they took care of everything for me. They even filled out my FMLA.
Good Luck in your decision!
