Hi Kathy,
My surgery was June 1st. I personally would stay away from mac & cheese. I know it is scary to start trying new foods. Some of the things I have eaten are:
scrambled egg,
lowfat cottage cheese,
peanut butter in my protein shake and on a teaspoon,
smashed banana with a teaspoon of peanutbutter
pureed tuna with a little lowfat Helmans,
hummus,
navy bean soup from Leo's coney(took home and pureed).
protein bar called "pure protein" (19 grams)
I also had toast with my egg today and it went well. I even put a tiny bit of simply fruit spread on the toast.
I hope this helps!

The other thing that they told me during the soft food phase was mashed pot. and gravy. I never did because of it not making sense to me, not enough protien. I do now do mac and cheese occassionally now at 5 months out, but very little.
I did ALOT of chili, split pea soup and cottage cheese at that stage. I did chicken noodle soup too. Good luck!

I liked chili! It taste good, has protein from the beans and if you put it through the blender, you can try 90/10 burger in it. I really like Wendys chili. You can eat Macaroni and Cheese, but you only get two/three bites in so where is the nutritional value in that?!?!?! Eat something that will give you ALOT of protein in SMALL quanities! Good Luck!!
