I don't know the answer, Kathy, but I thought we weren't supposed to eat "pasta" for a long while after surgery... isn't macaroni "pasta"?? Hmmmm...

Hi Kim, That's what I thought too...... but I called my NUT and she said that it was OK.?!?!?!?! I even told her I bought it from a chicken restaurant and she said it was fine. Apparently there are 7 grams of protein in a half of a cup. So I know what my dinner will be!!! I'm Glad you posted because I was getting ready to send you a message and tell you that I am praying for you, and your BIG day tomorrow. I know you will do just fine. Keep the faith, God will never let you down. I never really realized how much faith I had until I was in this place where I called on him constantly. He has amazed me. Every day gets better and better. I have also learned that he wants me to rely on him ALL the time, not just when I am in a serious situation. He will amaze you too!!!!! You will feel a million things when you wake up, just keep pumping that pain pump and breathe. God will take care of the rest. Let us know how you do as soon as you get home.. K???? God Bless! Love, Kathy

I know everyone is different but for me personally pasta is something even 8 months out I tend to stay away from. I can only eat 3-4 bites of pasta and I am full. I would go for the higher protein, easy on the pouch choices such as refried beans with cheese or soups such as split pea & ham or bean & bacon. Higher protein soups were my friend for a long time. Try egg drop soup it is made from eggs so it has protein. I am 2 1/2 yrs out and I still can tolerate much noodles without getting a stomach ache from them so be real careful until you know you can handle it!!! Good Luck.

Hey Kathy: Soups were my best friend for a long time too. You'd be amazed at how much protein is actually in some of them...and then if you add some ff cheese and melt it in...mmm..mmm! Anyways, you do have to pay attention to the labels, but the ones that worked best for me were campbell's select, the chunky soups (blended of course) and plain ol campbells cream of brocolli and brocolli cheese. And, just to throw my two cents in...I am seven months out and pasta still gives me fits! So, I just try to avoid it all together now. (Although, I do have a confession.) When I was just a couple weeks out, I thought I would never, ever eat normal again...so one night when I was cooking my son some mac n cheese for dinner, I decided that I just had to have a bite, so I sucked the cheese sauce off the noodles and then spit them in the sink! How silly is that?! Hang in there. You're doing awesome! Maria W.

Hi Kathy, I'm 6 1/2 months out and avoid pasta, bread, chips, pop, and all the foods that got us to where we once were. I avoid sugar like the plague. There are much healthier choice's out there. I personally don't think mac-n-cheese is a good choice. You could try ff refried beans w/ ff cheese melted on them and a dab of ff sour cream. cottage cheese mixed with some carb control yogurt, a plain ole cheese stick, baked riccotta cheese is always a treat. Then there's eggbeaters (I couldnt tolerate eggs well). for extra protein I add 1 tablespoon of anywhey unflavored protein powder to just about everything I eat. I also add it to my chrystal lite. This add's 9 gram's of protein to your food's. Best wishes to you. God bless you, Annette
