I got the call on Wednesday about my surgery date, then probably 1 hour later I started to feel like I was getting a cold. Well, sure enough it happened! I went to my PCP on Friday and he confirmed that it was JUST a cold/with fluid in my right ear. He gave me nasal spray and a 3 day azithromycin z pak. Ok, I haven't done the antibiotics. I am scared they will interfere with the surgery. Any thoughts on that? Also, I do not have a temperature, but I do have some 'productive' coughing. What should I do? I DON'T want to reschedule! I have all of my work papers turned in and don't want to go through that again. On the other hand, I don't want to get some terrible infection! BTW, who gets a cold in June anyway????? Also, I have been pretty much all set with my decision to have surgery. I was perusing this website and I came across the member area that has the members that are no longer with us. Of course, I read all of it! I am a nervous wreck. I am getting scared...

I had a sinus infection right before my surgery date and the pre op nurse told me to take the antibiotics. I would call your surgeons office first thing Monday morning. I wouldnt risk not starting the antibiotics for fear that the infection will get worse and then they will post pone the surgery. Hugs, Stacy

Believe me, you don't want to go under anesthesia with an infection! Take the antibiotics or your surgery will be post poned. Hugs Linda

I got a nasty sinus infection too - two weeks ago. My PCP put me on antibiotic and I feel great. I had the "productive" coughing too - that is good... you're getting all that yuck out of your body. I deal with seasonal allergies and this summer has been pretty rough in that department - do what your doctor says and you will do just fine! I was freaking out too... so I can understand your concern. I was a wreck this week - but after I said goodbye to my friends at work knowing I would be off for six weeks I did okay. I was fine yesterday and today I am okay, too. It gets better. What you are feeling is normal. My surgery is tomorrow Love, Brandee
