METAL DETECTORS

It's been nearly three months since my surgery (laproscopic). I feel great...lost nearly 60 lbs. One surprising thing is that I am setting of metal detectors. I know it's the staples because I have been wearing the same clothes and carrying the same stuff in my purse before and after the surgery, and the detectors don't set off with other people, who come in right after me. I don't find it annoying yet, but I think it's strange. My surgeon and the medical assistant said that this should not happen, but apparently it does with me! Anyone else experiencing this?

I don't even think there should be enough metal in the staples to set the detectors off. Maybe your surgeon should do an xray to make sure everything that is there is suppose to be, because it doesn't sound right. Good Luck! Mary

I've flown since surgery, too. I didn't set any metal detectors off in the airport, or anywhere else for that matter. Although, I did find some articles on the internet that say metal implants can set off sensitive airport security equipment. So, I suppose it could be your staples. Interesting.... Tina
