Wow, I had my initial visit at Dr Obeid's office on Tuesday (May 6th). I was really surprised at the wait time. My appointment was for 11:45 and it was close to 2 before I got in to see someone. Normally that would have made me crazy but it really was worth the wait. The conversations going on in that room were wonderful. You had people that were just starting (like me) to people who have been out for years. It was almost like being in a chat room. I was amazed just listening to everyone. The best part was meeting the doctor for the first time. I can understand why he comes so highly recommended. Although I know this is going to take time, I believe I have chosen the right place and the right doctor. Jan

That is great to hear that it went so well. I am going to be doing a consult at Hurley as well, not with that dr. though. I know in the paperwork they say to plan on being there all day. Glad to hear it all went good except for the wait time. Shawn 296

Shawn, I only talked to a couple of people in the waiting room but I listened to as many as I could. The information was great. Much like it is on the board only out loud...Good luck with your visit. I hope you have a great experience. Jan

I'll second the wait. It was a good hour and tweny minutes or so, but the people in the waiting room were so much fun to talk to! When I went to pre-admission testing I met a few people there who ended up being in the nutrition and nursing care classes in the afternoon. It was really a good way to spend the day. My mom went with me the second time and really enjoyed the conversation. My husband was at the first consult with me and for him... it helped ease his concerns seeing spouses and significant others sharing their concerns amongst the group. So many people who are experiencing the same fears and concerns make this journey not so scary. Brandee

HI Jan, I also was there on Tuesday for a consult with Dr.Obeid, my appoinment was for 11:30........He was very apologetic for being so far behind. Nice man! I'm transfering from MMPC to the Hurley Clinic, I live in northern Lapeer County and was very concerned about the distance to Grand Rapids, that clinic was very nice too & they were just getting ready to set up my surgry date when I called to ask for my medical records to be transfered. Your so right about the learning experience in the waiting room, the nurse told me i should be looking into a suppport group, that waiting room was like a suport group I told her. Very interesting subjects from wls surgery to tummy tuck experiences. Do you know what your next step is? Connie

Connie, We were probably there at the same time. The doctor was very apologetic as well. I have just had my chart sent from my PCP and have done the pych test. Unfortunately I will probably have the wait since my diet attempts were not something documented. I have only 2 appointments that the doctor documented we spoke about weight issues. UGH... Jan
