Anyone in West Michigan?

I am new to WLS, I had the lap-band on May 16. I am looking for a support system in the west Michigan area. Anyone out there? Thanks, Shelley

Hi Shelley - There is a support group that meets in Kalamazoo the second Monday of the month (next meeting is 6/12) at 6:30 at the Gilmore Center for Health Education next to Bronson Hospital. It is organized by MMPC in Grand Rapids, but patients from other practices are welcome. The majority of us are RNY, but there are a few lap-band patients from time to time. There is also Yahoo board for West Michigan WLS patients at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/JourneysThroughWLSWesternMichigan/ Occassionally someone from the group will organize a get-together which is fun. Hope things are going well for you. I ride over to South Haven every once in a while to watch the boats and the sun set on the lake. Matt

Hi Shelley and everyone else who has answered your e. This is Shirley, I am the co-leader of the support group that meets a****ervliet hospital. Our leader is Anna Hudson. we are there EVERY third wednesday of the month! been meeting for 5 + years. we would love to have new people join us. we always say there has to be more of us in the area! These groups are totally voluntary and leaders and co-leaders are volunteers too. so mark your calendar for june 21st. @ 7PM. hope to see and meet you!
