I feel so good!!!!! It is incredible!! Within hours after the RNY lap surgery I was up and walking, and very soon after that I felt like a million bucks. I had a couple of days of feeling kind of beat up and had gas pains, but no surgery pain, no nausea. Had the surgery on Tuesday, home Thursday. Sunday I felt great physcially but I got a big case of the blues, due to I live alone and was bored without my friend, "food". I have lived alone 5 years and never had 1 moment of boredom as I have lots of interests, and friends/family. But now I don't have my "best friend" and guess that was affecting me, a big thing to adjust to. It was like when I quit smoking 4 years ago ", I all of a sudden had so much time on my hands, guess this compares to that. But no worries, I will prevail. A good friend who is 4 years post-op called me and after I boo-hooed on her she said "get ready I am coming to pick you up and we are going out to a restaurant and order some soup and a cup of tea and you will feel so much better". I had my doubts but felt so much better just for her saying that. So thats what we did, and she was so right!! It was heavenly, just what I needed. I had the most wonderful bean soup at Bob Evans (which I only had a few bites of the broth and took the rest home) and a wonderful cup of warm decaf tea as we sat and chatted. Then we went to Walmart shopping for about 2 hours!!! Still feeling wonderful and yesterday (after conferring with other post-op friends) I booked a trip to Vegas with my daughter and her boyfriend and my 10 year old grandson for 2 weeks from now!! I will take my protein powder and ask the bartender to blend me a banana with a little milk and ice add my powder and be in great shape. I can have soups, and cottage cheese, stuff like that. I can lounge by the pool, and play lots of Wheel of Fortune, which I am usually very lucky at, I can go with the kids when I want to (they have lots of fun things planned for my grandson), and when I don't, no problem. So 1 week post op and life is good!!!! And best of all this can happen to you too, for all of you waiting and worrying about your surgery!!! Don't be scared!! Think happy positive thoughts.

That is so funny that you are going to Vegas right after surgery. I went to Vegas 6 weeks after surgery. I did well. I walked a ton, which was good for my physique but my legs were dieing at the end of the day. I was able to eat "normal" food when I went but I was still having trouble keeping stuff down. I had a great time. It was so weird because I had an opening in my incision that occured like a week after surgery that I was having trouble closing up. (it developed because of a blood clot surfacing after surgery) And when I came home from Vegas it closed up because of the weather out there. It was a memorable trip. Enjoy! I am looking forward to going to Disney World this fall, and being able to walk more than my husband. I already put him to shame around the house with the amount of energy I have, I cannot wait to be on vacation and see what happens. Suzanne 300/150
