I smell yukky!
Is this normal???? I smell totally different and it's not nice! (I am about 11 days post op.) I'm not talking about gas, I'm talking about the way my body smells. Showering and using deodorant soap doesn't help. And, underarm deodorant doesn't seem to be working any more at all! What's going on????? Is this normal??? Will it go AWAY?????
Hi Karen,
I think that it's pretty normal. You should be in Ketosis and that makes very distinctive smell. I noticed in the urine and other things not so much in body smell. There were some things to do about it on the board a couple of months ago, but I can't remember the suggestions.
I'm sure when I go back to work next Monday I'll hear about it. One of my co-workers has a supersensitive nose and makes no qualms about telling the rest of the room. Right now I'm trying to disguise it with the chlorine from the pool

Oh my God, I smell like a huge vitamin tablet. It's disgusting. I knew ketosis gave you bad breath but I didn't know it made your whole body smell different. I can't stand to be in bed with myself, LOL. I'm sure glad I sleep alone!
And you know what? Those liquid vitamins are NASTY. I have to plug my nose to swallow them. I wonder if chewables are worse or better?
My .02 cents - liquid vitamins are vile. Chewables are gross - but not vile. Chewables stick to the teeth and can take a while to pick out. Depending on the brand, some are far worse than others.
Honestly, I wish someone would come up with something like a protein tester pack for vites as I wasted almost $150 try to find one I could stand. For me, it was a blessing when I was cleared to swallow the post-op bari vites.
The liquid iron was bar none - the nastiest thing I ever drank. And given how badly I tested my liver in undergrad - that is saying something.
Note to self - liquid iron is worse than screamin' vikings - beer with a shot of scope. Don't ask. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Peeee yeeewwww!!!!! I though that was me again!
Yes you stink and your breath will melt iron but that's the way it is for a while. You will stop eventually but you really need this to be happening to lose weight. The best defense is to keep the water flowing to get the ketones out in your urine. Right now they're coming out of your skin so up the water intake and see if that helps. We all went through it so don't feel bad. Your doing fine.
