I have been strougling with low potassium counts for about 6 weeks now. I have slowed way down in weight loss since then too! Anyone else experience this? Leeanne

Leeanne, When potassium levels will not come up make sure that your doctor checks your magnesium levels too. Many doctors do not do this and just keep pumping you full of potassium prescriptions. My doctor told me that if your magnesium levels are not up to par you can take all of the potassium in the world and it will not come up. This is not just true of people who have had weight loss surgery, my own mother was having this issue and I called her doc and asked what her magnesium level was, lo and behold he had never checked that. I simply ask him to do a level for her then suggest a supplement since I thought that might be the issue. Guess what within one week mom was fine!!! She happen to mention this as she was having leg cramps and had been suffering with it for three months, dang the doctor that didn't know to check the magnesium levels. I think it is prudent to remember doctors don't go to medical school to know what vitamins do for us, they do however know how to prescribe medications in a heartbeat and reap the benefits of all those drug company goodies. In case you think I am a bit cynical yeah I am, I have not only seen what the doctors get for prescribing the drugs but I know first hand from both the drug company side and the doctor side. You see my brother in law is a physician and my neice is a drug rep!!!! Just a word to all of us....be wise about your own care. Jill

Jill, Thanks so much for your response. I had wondered about this. I am going to check on my lab work to see if they checked this or not. I totally agree with you about being wise about your own care. Leeanne
