henry ford hospital

Hey everyone iam fairly new on here, iam from windsor ontario and hoping to have gastric bypass. Iam 27 5'6 294lbs with a bmi of 48, my comorbities arent too extreme, yet lol besides being 294lbs lol i have joint pains, possible polycystic ovarian syndrome (still trying to figure out if thats what i have) and trouble sleeping at night, thats basically it. I applied for out of country insurance 3 weeks and still no word from ohip my insurance company. If i do get accepted it will be done at henry ford hospital with dr genaw, if anyone has had surgery with him or know someone that has, please email me so i can hear your experience with this facility and surgeon. Hello! I (as well as my mom) have had WLS with Dr. Genaw. If you go with him you will be in very good hands. The bariatric program at HF is excellent & I have nothing but good things to say! Dr. Genaw also works with Dr. Carlin, who is also excellent. My SIL used Dr. Carlin. IMO, his bedside manner is a little softer than Dr. G's (but he is great nonetheless). Good luck to you! Hi Krisitna, I had surgery @ HFH with Dr Carlin and I can't say enough good things about him or the program. I am 5'5 and my highest weight was 297. I have kept my weight at a consistant 150 lbs for the last year( give or take 2-3 lbs). We have a wonderful support group that meets donwtown at the CAM center twice a month. We have one this Tuesday and if you are interested in attending please email me and I will give you a few canadians emails to hook up with if you are interested in car pooling. Hi Kristina, Some people like Nicole think that Dr. Genaw is the best, but I have to say Dr. Carlin is really the best. LOL I have never met Dr. Genaw, but know many people who had him for their surgeon. He is top notch, and so is Henry ford Hospital. I have been to many hospitals in my lifetime and can honestly say Henry Ford Hospital is the Best Hospital I've ever been to. They have the best before, during and after care. They truely care for their patients, and will help in any way they can to insure your sucess. I have had more than one person tell me that they wished they would have gone through H. F. H. program, because the places they wen't through semed to have forgotten about them post-op. Rest assurred you are in the very best of hands with Dr. Genaw and Henry Ford Hospital. I had my surgery with Dr. Genaw, and I will tell you, he WILL tell you like it is, and will not sugar coat anything. I remember telling him about my ovaries, and IF he could see them, would he look at them and see how they looked, and if he could take a pic of them to take to my ob/gyn. See, I have endrometrosis and wanted to know if there had been any changes. He remembered to take a pic AFTER the camera was turned off, but told me that everything was just as I had described it. I was 5'4" and 235 lbs, so you are probably among the 'lighter' patients he sees. Good luck to you!
