Drum Roll, please....
So.... after my most amazing day yesterday, today seemed to follow suit!!
My NEW surgery date is.... June 19th with surgery scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at Hurley. That is exactly three months after my birthday and probably the best damn belated birthday gift I have ever received!!
Oh HAPPY day....
AND....
I had "THE TALK" with my staff today at work. There was not one dry eye in the room today. Why was I so terrified? They were awesome! There were a lot of questions, all good... mostly in the form of "how can we help you through this" and "will you share what you learn about diet and nutrition with us".... I was floored. Some of the girls also offered to help suppliment my "losing wardrobe" from their closets! I am so Blessed that I am able to spend my working hours with these people. I was assured that my return to work post-op would be a team effort.
Since we were technically closed today for spring cleaning, normally we have lunch brought in for everyone. TODAY... for the first time ever (or maybe I am just more aware), we ordered salads for everyone and not one of the 16 had pop with their meal. Maybe I planted a seed...
I have two weeks now to prepare for my WLS, which requires training someone to handle the tasks I can not do from home this summer.
Life is so good!
Wow Again,
Congratulations. Lots to do! That is the same day as my psych. eval. with Dr. Williams. I will be thinking of you and praying that everything goes smoothly. Do you have to do the liquid diet before surgery? They didn't give me a choice, maybe because I am having the lapband. Oh well, I am glad things are going great for you. How is your husband taking all this good news? You will have to tell the gang at Hurley Bariatrics that now that your surgery is almost out of the way to focus their attention on me, Tammy Amy! LOL
Dr. Williams is awesome! I was really nervous about that appointment, but I learned SO much from him. He really cares about the pre-op patients he works with. I am sure you will do just fine!! Be sure to let him know that you participate on this web site... he is an advocate of support and I am sure he'll be pleased to know you are part of the OH MI family!
I don't have to do the liquid diet-prep, but I do have to be a good-girl and really cut down my portions and eat carefully. LOTS of water... lots... no salt, peanut butter, cheese, or processed meats and I have an all-liquid diet to follow the day before surgery. I CAN do this! It really is not all that bad! I broke into my new protein powders last night and made myself a bottle of Fuzzy Navel Nectar to take to work today. GOOD stuff and it kept me full! I heard that the lapband patients do have to do the liquid diet in advance to help shrink their liver before the lap-band surgery. I was really surprised that all patients didn't do that.
My husband is so excited for me. He now has two weeks to prepare himself at work for taking time off to be with me... he works in a small office and we are all friends with his coworkers. They are way excited, too, and very supportive of Gordon. He has so much planned for us to do as a thin couple. I can't wait... although I still refuse camping and hiking that don't offer the luxury of a shower and flush toilets!
You'll be working with Jill and Renee, most likely at Hurley. Let 'em know you're one of my girls! Those two women rock! They have their stuff together and will take good care of you!
G'night!
Brandee
Brandee,
That is so awesome that the people you work with are being so supportive. That will help you along so much post-op.
Congrats on the new date! I have surgery that week too, but mine is for my knee. I have an ACL and MCL tear and a lateral meniscus tear too. I really messed it up needless to say. Not too much longer and you will be a big loser.
