One Day At A Time
My DH brought this poem home to me last night thinking I might need it. LOL I have 47 days til surgery and every once in a while..I start to freak out about it. LOL this of course is normal but not to him. He is "weird" when it comes to having surgery he doesn't worry about it AT ALL!!!! I am a nervous wreck. LOL So, I thought I would share it with all of you pre ops and post ops. It is a very true poem.
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is Yesterday with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday. We can not undo a single act we preformed; we can not erase a single word we said.....Yesterday is gone.
The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with its possible adversaries, its burdens, its large promise and poor preformance. Tomorrow is always beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.
This leaves only one day.....Today. Anyone can fight the battle of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful extremities; Yesterday and Tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of Today that drives us mad-- it is remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow will bring.
I hope you like it.
