My SURGEON is on a BILLBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I'm on my way home from work yesterday afternoon, and lo and behold I look up at a BILLBOARD and see the very man who performed my open RNY on me July 19, 2005.....
DR JAMES D PILKINGTON, MD......along with another surgeon at Central Michigan Community Hospital here in Mount Pleasant.
I almost peed my pants.
Instead, I think I came close to running a red light.....
But I didn't....instead, I threw my mouth wide open
Drove home and was stunned. I'm gonna get my digital camera this afternoon and go take a photo and post it here. It's amazing to see this man life size not only in person but on several, several billboards here in town.
IS YOUR SURGEON ON ANY BILLBOARDS???????????????????
Stacey W
ok. that's awesome. it would still scare me but if it makes you happy, i'm glad. i didn't mean any offense. i was just stating MY feelings. maybe here in Michigan there are so many bariatric programs and so few patients that advertising is necessary, i don't know. I never heard of a hospital or bariatric surgeon advertising so it would make me wonder is all. I've always been wary of doctors who advertise for patients. that's just me.
The Hospital here in this town does do many Billboards, and they feature the services that they offer, from the New Cancer Center to the many surgeons here in town. Not JUST bariatric surgeons, but all kinds.
I should have been more clear on what the BILLBOARD was about....I was just kind of tickled pink to see him and thought it was cool. Primarily tho, the billboard represents the hospital in this town and what it has to offer our community.
That's all.
Consider this done....forgiven and forgotten. I apologize too if I came across like the B I can be.
Guess I get defensive when it comes to my surgeon...he's amazing. I just was overwhelmed to see his face -- more like whole body on a billboard.
It's cool....take care of YOU....that is WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT.
Hi Stacey, How cool that you saw your Surgeon on a Billboard!! We have Billboards here in Kalamazoo that advertise for Bronson & Borgess hospitals, for a variety of different things. I think they are in competition with each other. I have never seen my Surgeon on one (yet) but I have seen an advertisement in the paper for him. I think there are a lot of people in the Kalamazoo area who don't realize that we have a Surgeon locally. My PCP referred him to me and I am glad he did because I didn't want to drive to Grand Rapids to have the surgery!!
Take Care,
Kathy
P.S. Glad you didn't run the red light!!
I haven't seen my surgeon on a billboard. However, the day of my first consultation a local TV station (12) was at the Clinic shooting a news story. MY clinic and Doctor received an award for best in the State! Hurley Bariatric Center. I am not bragging, (maybe a little)! LOL Actually, I found out that a woman that works with my Husband had wls and we had the same Doctor from that story. Everyone that has every encountered my doctor has nothing but good things to say. So what I am saying is, isn't it good to know that so many people will know your Doctor? With that advertisement, he sure will be under the microscope himself, right?
