ANY SUPPORT GROUPS IN MIDLAND??

Hi there! My daughter is two months post op, she had RNY here in California...and she is going to be staying in Midland for what could turn into several months. Midland is about 25 miles west of Mount Pleasant, which is where I reside, and had my open RNY performed July 19, 2005 by Dr. James D. Pilkington, MD. He has a support group which meets the first Tuesday of every month at Central Michigan Community Hospital at 6pm. I cannot attend these because I work nights or have to be up at 5am so I have not attended any of his meetings. I am originally from Midland and do not live far from that area. There is another member on this board that I know of who lives in Midland (I am sure she will see this and post!). There is a group in Bay City that meets, but I am not sure when. I work farther north, so it's hard for me to get to the Bay City support group meeting.

Thanks Michelle! I know that my son-in-law said that there a couple of ladies at his church who have had WLS and hopefully she will connect with them as well. I am just very concerned that she will not be getting the support she needs this early out. I myself attended several support groups a month, besides living on the message board. She will be coming back to California next week and will be able to do her bloodwork and have her 3 month follow up appt with her surgeon but then she will be returning to Michigan and at this point we're not sure for how long. I am very concerned that she will not be near her surgeon at this early stage of the journey. I am a worry-wart by nature! I hope the other lady sees this post, what is her name? Dear Sara.... I think Michelle is referring to me as "the lady in Midland". (Hey I've been call MUCH worse! lol) Anything I can do to help your daughter out I would be more then willing to do.... If she needs an interim WLS doctor I would be glad to introduce her to mine, as I know he would do willing to help out... I see you have grandkids... Hi Erin! Thank you so much for the reply. I loved your profile by the way...you sound like a great person and a blast! My daughter used to live in Midland before moving home to California last November. She could however use the support of local people who are also on the WLS journey. She had her surgery here in California at the end of March...she is still very early out in the process and it does concern me to have her so far away from her surgeon and her support system here. I know that her husband said that there are a couple of ladies at his church who have had WLS and I hope that she gets to know them as well. Hi Sara, I don't know of any groups in Midland but I wanted to say hi! You look great. I don't know if you remember talking to me on the phone before your surgery. I use to live in Gladwin but have now moved back down state. It is nice to "see" you! Nancy
