HELP! HAIRY ISSUES.....

Now I am very aware that there are much more serious issues than the one I want to discuss here. However, here goes. I have always had very thick full hair. (Downright beeeeeeeuuuuutttttttfulllll! If I must say so myself.) LOL Since my surgery, I like most bariatric patients, have experienced some hair loss, but not an overly large amount. The biggest problem is that it is just plain "wimpy." Very flat with almost no body. I have tried many many many different hair care products - but nothing has helped. I refuse to spend another penny on any more of those things. Have any of you had a similar experience post op? If so, have you found a solution to this flat, stringy, thin, wimpy,......hair problem? Thanks. Yucky Boring Skinny Hair in GR

Yes I also had thick hair before surgery and know I have flat hair I had it cut in a style that tried to give it body. I was told by my hair dresser that it is from the lack of nutrients and protein. Some people take the biotin and that seems to help. Good luck Tricia

Hi Pam I have not had WLS yet but my hair is very thin and baby fine. I had my hair cut with texturizing in it so it gave it some fluff and it actually looked like I had more hair!!! There is also some root lifter that you can buy and it helps also to give your hair the needed lift. Hope I helped you out some. Judy

I take 5000mg of biotin a day - I got mine at Wal-Mart. I had think hair too and even neurosurgery in 1990 didn't put a dent in it, but the WLS did. Get that protein in!!

omg i had such thick hair pre op, and like jennifer, when it grew back the parts that fell out were so curly....my hair was pretty much straight before. Now i take biotin 5gm (from vitamin shoppe $ 9.00) and i use moisturizing shampoos (my favorite is Loreal vive). My hair is getting much better now and i'm starting to see a big change. The biotin also makes my hair grow in a lot faster. But make sure to take all your normal vitamins and get your protein in, that's the most important. Hugs Linda
