Just a little background on me. I am 43, I had lap RNY on 1/27/06. I have lost a total of 77lb.s including the pre-op diet loss. I started at 360lb.s and am down to 283lb.s. I am 5'6 1/2". I am low in iron and potassium but am on supplements to take care of that. Lately, my appetite is back and I am not handling it very well. I have a hard time at night not wanting to snack. I don't want to get back into bad habbits. Last night I found myself feeling like my old self. You know all the bad self talk, "you are still fat" because I am still obese. And "you probably aren't going to even get close to goal". I just wanted to cry last night. Part of the problem is hormones I know, but that happens every month. I need to find a way to counter act this! I don't feel much differnce at all in my weight. In my head I know I am smaller, I wear size 24 clothes and I was in 30/32. But, in my heart, I don't feel any different. I also have so much more to lose that I can't see the end. I know I just need to get over it, but I can't seem to do it! Thanks for listening to me whine! Leeanne

Leeanne, I feel your concerns, One thing I do when I want to snack at night is clean something that way I am doing two things exercise and getting some cleaning done. I work two jobs and really haven't had much time to spend on the house so when I want to eat I clean. As far as feeling fat I believe that's normal I am harder on myself now at size 4 then I was before this journey. Another thing you can do is drink something when you feel the hunger since you can't eat for 1/2 hour after drinking you might be asleep before you can eat. Good Luck and keep reaching for support. First off congatulations on your surgery and your loss of weight. Now do you execsise It is a must You have to drink water at night even if you are not thersty because it takes up room in your pouch. I look at it like this food is like alcahol to a drunk except we cant stop eating but we can make the most of what we do eat. Head hunger has to be dealt with You alone are the determining factor there. ask yourself when you eat preferribly before do i need this or do i want this. if you need it there has to be a physical sighn that you do. when did i las eat ? what is it that i am craving is it legal?if it is and you need something then go for it if it is something that that you want then ask yourself will it push me twards or away from my goal if it is away then save it for another time and drink some water You can do this It is up to you. I wont gain a pound if you overeat. just like you wont if i overeat. it just will hurt ourselves. You went through all that pain and bother to loose your weight dont sabatoge yourself get out and walk swim lift weights. do something to get moving it is the only humane way to loose the weight. I am here anytime you need a place to vent just email me

Hi Leeanne I know exactly how you are feeling. I too started out at 360 pounds, but am only 5'3, so i was fatter than you was. It took a long time for me to look in the mirror and be proud of myself, i didn't see what everyone else saw. It does not come overnight, it takes a lot of hard work and determination. Are you drinking protein? Protein and water is what you should be thinking of the most. Here is what i have done from the beginnning when i started to have solid foods. when i wake up i drink protein....the rest of the day when i eat it is protein first , veggies or fruit next, then by the time you get to the carbs and fatty foods your about full and can't eat much. drink at least 64 ounces of water (you need water to burn fat and to stay hydrated). when i snack it is on sf popsicles or sf fudgesicles. Then i walk and walk and walk. In the last year i have added a lot of different exercises, but at the beginning it was just walking. Don't beat yourself up because you don't see the loss soon enough, it will come if you work your tool. right now i am 21 months out and am 163 pounds, and litterally skin and bones....even though they're big bones LOL . What is your goal weight? email me anytime you need, i'm here for you. Hugs Linda
