Dayja,
You'll do fine. I just had my surgery on Monday at Harper with Dr. Wood. The girls in preop were great and they give you relaxing medication right away. I was taken about a half hour early and was in OR about an hour in recovery an hour and a half or so. I slept most of the day on Monday so they turned the epidural down a litte on Tuesday which was OK.
I didn't really have a problem with the nursing staff on 2BS except for the one afternoon shift when I think they were short and had pulled a nurse from another floor.
Now here's what I post on the April 2006 board today.
I'm home and recovering. I have a lot of swelling in my feet, and the runs that are getting old fast. I came home on no blood pressure meds was on 2), no cholesterol meds (was on 3), and only glucophage for my diabetes and I will probably be off that soon. The only ones I kept were the allergy meds (and I haven't taken the allegra yet) and the med I take for my Restless Leg Syndrome. The RLS bothered me more in the hospital than the pain from the surgery because I just couldn't get comfortable. The epidural was great, I did have a lot of muscle soreness from the retractors and the positions they had me on the table.

Hi Dayja, Like the others have said hang in there you will be fine. I know that is not easy to hear now, but believe me it is true. I had sugery on April 6th with Dr. Wood andI am doing just great. As soon as you get to hospital things go by so quick they give you something to relax , next thing you know your waking up in recovery. I am 8 days out , have not taken any pain meds in 3 days.. But remember we are all different. You are in great hands with Dr. Kole. Walk alot in the hospital. You may not want to but you feel so much better when you do. Any questions please feel free to email me. Your almost there girl I felt the same way last week as you do but wow I feel so good this week. You will be a LOSER soon wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care & Big Hugs to You. DeAnn
Dayja,
Don't worry yea easy to say but hard to do. I was scarred too but the tummy tuck scarred me more. I've had over 20 surgeries and look at them as a way to get a good sleep, but the tummy tuck was the longest. But then I really needed one before the open RNY, so Dr. Kole had a lot to do and I'm still on the road to recovery. Surgery was on March 20th. The RNY was a breeze and when I'm done with this I'll consider it easy too and well worth it.
By the way I'm right on the Taylor border and if you need to talk get in touch I'm at Goddard and Allen.
Good losing,
Stes
