Dear Flabby!
I am 10 months out now and have lost 3/4 of my goal weight. I am falling down a lot! I have heard that this can happen when you lose alot of weight quickly. I am getting tired of it, is there anything nutritional to it or is it all about the shifting weight flux?
My butt looks like a train hit it!
Any advice on this from anybody is appreciated!
Wendy
Wendy: We just talked about this at group the other night. You can work on your balance by standing on one foot and holding it there for a while and then shift to the other foot. (Maybe while you are brushing your teeth). Then as it gets easier to do, raise the leg up higher and higher. Also, remember to hold in the tummy area (your core) as you are doing this. It will tighten the tummy muscles which definitely help with keeping you centered. Work on exercises building those core muscles, too. I do Pilates, work out on the balance ball to do crunches, the balance ball also makes you work on your balance when you are even doing arms with little weights since you have to "sit and balance" on the ball while doing other things. I also have a Total Gym that really helps with all the core muscles.
My experience is a little different, my balance is really good since getting off nearly 116 lbs. I went skiing this year and for the first time, took all the biggest hills and zoomed down with no problem. Never would have even tried that a year ago since I was falling down even on the moderate hills. I had been exercising on the core area prior to surgery for 3 months, too.
The other thing you might want to check is if your sinuses are bothering you, that could also cause balance problems. Maybe have the doctor check that out or suggest tests for balance. (Not trying to say it's all in your head! HA)
As far as the butt goes, sorry honey, I know what you're saying. I've done tons of exercise and that skin is a bear! Thighs too! UGH!
Hope that helps some! Pam
