question about a procedure
I had my yearly check up for my surgery and I mentioned to the doctor that I thought I was eating too much and that I didn't stay full as long as I should.
He mentioned a procedure where they go in with a scope and inject something into the opening of the intestine/stomach that will shrink the muscles around the opening so that you can eat less because food stays in there longer. He said sometimes for unknown reasons people's stretch out, they don't know why or how. Has anyone had this done??
Please let me know if you had, if it was painful and if it lasts indefinately or if it's something you need to do off and on.
Linda: There are a couple girls on the Yahoo site for WLS (West Michigan) that have had schlerotherapy done. They said they have to go back to liquids for a day or two and then soft food and then right back to eating more normally. It seems to be working for the girls that are farther out and were having trouble with gaining weight. If you want the website, let me know and you can post your question to the ones that have had it done. There is a possibility you might have to have more than one treatment depending on the opening of the stoma, but the girls so far have only had one done. I don't think there was a lot of pain and you are knocked out for the scope going in and the actual procedure. Hope that helps some! Pam
