MMPC Supplements...help!

Hello fellow Michigamians! I am in day 3 of the 2 week supplement phase (pre-op). Day one was pretty good - I could tolerate all the supplement choices I had for that day (I even went to dinner with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday at TGIFriday's and I ordered a cup of ho****er so I could have my MMPC Spaghetti Bolognese...and I was totally fine with it...I surprised myself!) Anyhow, day two was when I tried the puddings - and I really, really disliked it...the texture is TOO weird. Then today I tried the cream of broccoli soup...YUCK!!! Oh my gosh!! And it's not that the flavor is bad, but that texture was not tolerable. I tried to force it down, but I started gagging. I HAVE to find a way to get these supplements in because I'm either going to under-nourish myself (because I only ate 6 of my 10 supplements today), or I'm going to start sneaking in 'real' food - and we can't have that! Has anyone else struggled with the supplements and found ways to make them more tolerable? I ordered a mixer from MMPC when I got the supplements, but they didn't put it in my bag and didn't notice until I got home!! Anyhow, I don't know if the mixer is what I need to mix the stuff up better??? Somebody PLEASE help me get these things down.

I never used any mixer from MMPC, but then I didn't have any problems with their supplements. Don't know about the cream of broccoli soup (wouldn't have ordered that because I don't like broccoli). I liked the cream of tomato soup. Found I really had to mix it up slowly ... a little ho****er, mix it and get the lumps out, then a little more, get the lumps out, etc. Pre-op, I added some cheese to the chili because I found it to be a little too spicy and some garlic and spices to the spaghetti because I found it a little too bland. To the shakes, I added some sugar-free syrups. You can buy them at World Markets. I added orange syrup to the vanilla and put it in a blender with some ice and made like a dreamsicle shake. It was actually pretty good. I also made a root beer float like shake with SF root beer pop, vanilla shake and ice and put it in a blender. Also, you can use the cappucino mix and some SF caramel syrup in a blender with some ice and make a frappucino. That was pretty good. I found putting the shakes in a blender whipped them up better. Good luck. Let me know if you need any help. Eileen

Thanks! I didn't know we could add things to our diet during the pre-op stage?? I knew I could add spices, but I certainly didn't know I could add cheese to the meals?? I think I will have to try using the blender for the pudding to try to mix it up good (I didn't purchase any shakes). Last night I tried mixing the lemon pudding with ho****er to try to get the lumps out, but it didn't work for me...maybe I need a little more patience. Anyhow, thank you SO much for the ideas.

Tarra: The only other thing I could say is, go and buy more of the things that you like. They won't take back supplements, but you can buy more if the need arises. If the bars work best for you, then go ahead and have 5 of them a day to get your 10 points in. I do like the punch flavored drinks, but that is one of the drinks it took me awile to get back to after surgery because of taste changes. I might have a cappucino packet I could send you and you could try if that would help. Let me know! Pam PS Sometimes you can get someone from MMPC that likes the ones you don't like either switch with you or buy the ones you don't like. Ask on this board or the Yahoo site I sent you!

Thanks for the advice...the supplements that we're using for MMPC are the same supplements that I used to take when I went to Medical Weight Loss Center some years ago. MWLC always told us to never eat more than one bar a day, so I assumed that although the MMPC nurse never said it, that I couldn't have multiples of the same thing in a day. I guess I should have asked questions, and not assumed MMPC had the same rules. I am on a VERY tight budget, so I can't afford to buy another week's worth of supplements, however, I am going to see about trading out supplements with other people, as you suggested. Thanks so much for your ideas!
