For all of you walkers....how far do you walk when you walk? I've been doing 3 miles, but will up it to 4 soon. Just wondering what others do. Thanks, and have a wonderful rest of the day...it's a beauty! Theresa

My walking is different every day....sometimes just a mile or so to the store or around the neighborhood, or a few laps around great lakes mall, or sometimes i go visit my honey at his work, which is 3 miles each way. The last few days i've only gotten around the block because i tripped over my sons dumbbells and slammed into the doorframe...which pulled a muscle in my back, bruised my knees like crazy, and i bit all the way through my lip....but thankfully i still have some vicodin which helps me to get around, i just don't like to take it... Have you ever used a pedometer? My kids have one from school and their gym teacher says an average person does around 6000 steps a day. Does that sound right to you? Hugs Linda

Mmm...don't know, but I know if I wore a pedometer I'd be surprised how many steps I do take. I do have one, but I've never used it...aren't I bad! I'm just trying to get into more a routine of walking daily... Thanks for the reply! Theresa

ok i just found this. An average person walks approximately 7000 steps a day. If you took it up to 10,000 steps you would see a significant weight loss. It also says an inactive person walks an average of 2000 steps a day. I think i'll go buy me a pedometer and star****ching it and see where i am. Hugs Linda

Hi Theresa, I haven't had my surgery yet but hoping to by summer or early fall. I have an appt. in Grand Rapids for my psych eval. and internist. I have been walking recently and 3 miles is about what I do too. If your soon to be 4 that's even better. Keep up the good work. The outside walks are the best, to get your 15 minutes of sun and the nutrients from it. When and if you walk outside in the winter, make sure at least 15 minutes of your walk is facing the direction of the sun. Good For You,those miles will pay off. Phyllis Gilbert

That's so interesting Phyllis! I always knew the sun had lots of good vibes to it, but it's interesting to hear new things. Thanks for your reply and good luck on your surgery!!! Theresa

Theresa, Iwalk by the time, about 30 minutes at lunch. I have three pedometer, but forget to wear them. I would say around two miles on nice days. I can't wait to go today it is going to be in the 70's. You are doing so well on your walking how long does it take you to go 3 miles? Do you change your route or go the same way? I like to walk by myself with a headphone set. Take care, Janice
