How soon after surgery until I can lift my children? My baby weighs 22 lbs. Im trying to figure out how long I need help around the house. Thanks so much for input! Kathyn

Kathryn, I think the best thing for you to do is to call your Dr.'s office and ask. I think if you were having open it could be longer than if you were having lap. But again the best thing to do is ask your Dr. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Connie

I had open (I am only one week post op) and I left the hossy on a 5lb restriction! I have 18 month old twins and it is KILLING me not being able to lift them I think alot of your restrictions will depend on how well you are healing, but to be safe I am assuming 4 weeks for myself. If sooner then great, but of course I know it might be longer too. Good Luck! Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer, Im having lap RNY and I got a general answer of 4 weeks but the doc said everyone heals differently....out of all that I know I will go through, not picking up my baby is worrying me more than anything! How are you feeling being just one week out? I have just 4 more weeks!!! Kathryn

Jennifer, from what Ive read on this board, TT take longer recovery. I wonder why that is? I wish you the best of luck, thanks for the idea about climbing, my daughter is not quite a year old, and so I doubt she can do those things, but its great you were able to teach yours! What are doggie stairs? KAthryn
