Switching Gears-Cori to Hurley
I am thnking seriously about switching to Hurley Bariatric from Cori. This has nothing to do with how I'm treated (however, the Cori nurse didn't cancel my appointment for the greenfield filter and Dr. Sealey's nurse was pretty upset), but a matter of geographics. It is an hour and a half drive to Harper Hospital and about 5 minute from where I live.
Has anyone else made a change in the middle of things? If so, what kind of things should I do and what do I need to get ready for a new consult? I'm sure Hurley will tell me, but I'd like to hear about anyone else's experiecnes with this. Also if anyone used Hurley's program, which Doc did you use and were you happy with your care?
Any advice and comments would be appreciated.

Mary,
I went through Hurley and had Dr. Obeid. He is a very gentle, kind, caring and compassionate person. The staff is phenomenal as well. I would highly recommend them. There are numerous people on this board who would agree. Blondie, who is a local radio personality, went through Hurley and had Dr. Obeid as well. Check out her profile on Hurley's website. Good luck with your decision honey.

Well, I didn't switch in the middle of things, but I did have my surgery through Hurley. I have no complaints about Hurley! Dr. Farhan did my surgery. I've had no complications, whatsoever. They are very knowledgeable, compassionate, understanding doctors. I hope you have a smooth journey. Good Luck! Tina
I did not switch either. But I had surgery at Hurley last July, my oldest daughter had it at Hurley in October 2004, and my middle daughter had a revision in August 2005. We all had Dr. Obeid, and totally trust him and recommend his care. We also received very good care at Hurley in their burn unit (they have more nurses per patient). Good luck with your decision and journey.
I did switch surgeons. I had my psyc eval already done but I hadn't submitted it to the insurance company. My new surgeon took the psyc eval from the other place with no questions asked!! Just call Hurley and tell them what steps you've taken so far and tell them that you're interested in switching to them, they'll tell you what you need to do.
The only snag I can really think of would be your insurance company. If you've already submitted for approval. If you havent' then there should really be no problem.
Best of wishes
Laurie
I didn't switch gears but I went through Hurley, only thing, Dr. Dabideen did my surgery and Dr. Obied assisted. Dabideen is no longer with Hurley, he is now at McClaren. Anyway, I have NOTHING but GOOD things to say about Hurley. The clinic is clean and nice and you never have to wait too long. The staff at the hospital is EXCEPTIONAL! I had a minor complication after surgery and those people are what kept me from melting down! They were terrific. And, I don't want to scare ya, but when you get out of surgery, that first thought is, "What have I done?" Everyone and I mean everyone that came my way, had something positive to say or had a smile on their face. All in all, I was MOST impressed with the care AFTER the fact. If you decide to change, you can feel you are making a good choice with Hurley.
