Calling All Northwestern Michiganians

I'd really love to hear from anyone from the TC area that has had surgery at Munson Medical Center. I'm in the early stages of investigating WLS still and will attend their next bariatric seminar on the 19th. If you have experience with Munson or GT Surgery, please share. I'm also interested in the financial costs incurred. I'm VERY lucky in that my employer pays for the very best BCBS policy available so I do have coverage contingent upon approval (of course!). Looking forward to hearing from you!

Barbara: Don't give up, I know there are some that had surgery at Munson! You could look up Melody Herring in the peers section, she is one that had surgery there. There are also a number of girls in the Traverse City area that had their surgery done at MMPC in Grand Rapids. Lynn Sprague, Tricia Joyce, among others. There are also some from Petoskey that had surgery at MMPC. Hope that helps you some! Take care, Pam

Hi - I had surgery in TC at Munson with Dr. Nizzi...I think I paid about $200 out of pocket for incidental things. I would HIGHLY recommend these surgeons. I know I sound like a commercial - but I would never consider having surgery done by anyone else now. I had to have my gallbladder out and went back to Dr. Nizzi. They have a very good follow up program too. I just can't say enough good things about them.

Barbara, I know of several people who had their surgery in TC, and have all had an excellent experience. A good friend of mine had hers right before Christmas. I spent the week with her last week, and she's the healthiest and happiest I've EVER seeen her! Good luck! Kathy

Barbara, I had my surgery at Munson last November. Dr. Slikkers was my surgeon. He is wonderful. Everyone at GTS is super. Both of my daughters had weight loss surgery last year also, both at Munson and both with Dr. Slikkers. They too would not think of going anywhere else. GTS has a great program. I recommend them highly. Betty

I really do not know alot about Munson and there surgery program. I just moved to the area only 2 months ago. But I can say I have heard alot of good things about Grand Traverse surgery. Dr Nizzi told me to get him my medical records and he would look at them to see if he can help me with my on going complications an if he could not he would try to direct me in the right direction. So that tells me that the office cares about there patients and helping people who are new to the area. I think that you will have a great experence with Grand Traverse surgeons. Good luck Tricia
