I passed!!!!!! I was with Dr. Frank for about half and hour and she said that she sees no reason why I would not do well with WLS. I can't believe it. She said she would fax paperwork to Dr. Genaw, and I said then maybe I should check with them in about a week..and she said..nope..go ahead and call them tomorrow. I'll do it right away..so now it's on to Henry Ford to meet the surgeon and do all the nutrition stuff... the only downer was when I called my Mother to tell her and she was telling me how my aunt doesn't support this and that my Aunt wonders if I know that I will still have to change my eating behavior so it's no different than dieting. I told my Mother ..yes it IS different.. I will now have a tool to help me as I'm changing those behaviors..a tool to keep me on track.. My Mom said "What tool is that?" Sheesh! I love my Mother and Aunt dearly, but are we really blood related? Sometimes I wonder. Anyway...my husband was with me and he was very happy and excited for me. That made up for it. Anyway.. thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts..they worked!!! I just hope everything goes well with the presurgery stuff... Blessings, Kim

Hey Kim was there ever any doubt. Congratulations! You have worked hard and trusted The Lord for this, now your time has come. You will do great as a post-op. Are you calling for the packet, or the nurse/nutrition consult or both? I am so happy for you. Enjoy the excitment of your victory. You will find it was well worth the fight! Wonderful things are coming your way. God bless you, Annette

Hi Annette, Actually, I received a packet a while back. Once I had my approval I received a call last week from Chantel (?) at Dr. Genaw's office and she asked where I was in the process as she received my approval letter. I told her I was having my Psych Evaluation today and she said once they receive the information regarding the outcome that I can call them to set up the next step... which I'm assuming is the Nutritional Consult? Do you know if they ever do the nutritional class and surgical consult in the same day or is every step a seperate trip? Dr. Frank told me to call tomorrow, so I will and see what they have to say. I'm so glad that part of this is over. The Lord has really opened the doors for me. I felt is nudge at the beginning and so far he has brought me here, although I'm so strong one minute..excited and so sure this is what I want..then I freak out a bit and get scared. I guess that's normal...cuz I know I'm not crazy after my meeting today

Hi Kim, Surgeon consults are done Monday's and Wednesday's, (sometimes Friday, that's usually for follow ups). Nurse/nutrition consultation's are the first and third Tuesday evening's of the month. Surgical procedure's are every Tuesday and Thursday's. When you call in the morning, they should set you up for the nurse/nutrition consultation. If you can go to the next one I'll be there. It's on April 18th. That's when you get your blue barri binder, choose your Surgeon and get your appointment to see him. At the surgeon consult, He will tell you what you need to do, and who you need to see, What tests (if any) you will need, and how much weight you have to lose. Wanda often can make your appointment's all for the same day if you need to have them like that~It takes all day, but you get them over with all at the same time. The emotion's you are going through right now are completely normal. It's such an incredible time right now, but it is also a highly emotional time as well. This is so worth the effort. I am so blessed to have had this surgery. I thank God every day for this, and for the skills and compassion he gave to my surgeon. You are in the best of hand's God bless you Kim, Annette

Congrats Kim!! I hope that everything works out. Be prepared for a wait between now and the consultation with the nurse - that lovely four hour deal! For me it was about 2 1/2 months! It was about a week or so before after that before I could see the surgeon, and when you do, he will ask you to lose X amount of pounds before your next visit. This is to see how motivated you are for this surgery. At this visit you set a surgery date and you MUST maintain this weight until your last pre-op visit, otherwise they will cancel the surgery. The two doctors are Dr. Genaw and Dr. Carlin. I had Dr. Genaw. I liked him from the start, but he can be blunt and to the point.
