Insurance/Plastic Surgery

Hello All, I am still pre op, but I am deathly afraid of the loose skin syndrome that so many wls patients experience. I hate the way it looks and feel that I will definitely want a tummy tuck and boob lift after reaching my goal. My question is which insurances do cover this surgery. Can anyone who has had it covered tell me which insurance you have??? I know most wont cover it unless there are medical problems with the extra skin, but some won't even cover it then. Which ones do??? I will be switching insurance companies in August and want to be sure to choose one that will cover it. Thanks, Janet

Hi Janet, Blue Cross has it written into their policy that they will cover a TT if you meet certain requirements. My PS asked if I had lost at least 100 lbs (which I had), she took pictures to prove that my skin hung down, she also asked if I ever got skin infections in the folds (I said yes, but nothing documented). Blue Cross covered that and a breast reduction. They do not normally cover a lift, but as they were removing excess skin I got the lift built in. Good Luck! Mary
