well, I am almost a month out now and I try eating small amounts of food, but when I do, I get very nauseated. I dont feel comfortable with food in my stomach. I dont know what to do. I mean, here I WAS eating a bag of doritoes before and I still was hunrgy, and NOW I cant even eat 1/4 to 1/2 of food without getting nauseated. I try to throw up cause I think it will make me feel better, but all I do is heave and nothing comes up. I just dont want to get malnutrition. I am getting in liquids and vitamins, and about 70 grams of protein a day.

Jennifer, how often are you eating? You should be eating every few hours, even if it's just a tiny bit. Sheryl In the Zoo

I try, but its impossible to eat knowing I will feel sick. I usually eat 2-3 times a day. Once in the afternoon and twice in the evening.

Sheryl's right. You have to eat more frequently or your pouch will revolt on you. I had the same problem and as soon as I did 4 bites of something and hour all day long it leveled out. You have to show the pouch who's boss. Remember to chew a lot. Also stay away from dairy unless you use lactaid. kp

Hi Jennifer, Kevin & Cheryl are right on...also, if you have a nutritionist at your disposal, contact them...mine had to tweak my eating schedule and how & what I was trying about 3 times over the first 4 months in order to get me past the "nausea" and diahhrea(sp?) stage. It was a real problem for me, too. Check it out! Lizzie B

Jennifer... I had the EXACT same issue.. and it lasted a while. As hard as it is to eat you have to. In fact for a while I had to eat every 1-2 hours. Believe it or not eatting REALLY helped with the nausea. I found 2-3 things I could eat and not feel too bad and stuck with them. All this will pass it's just part of the heeling porcess.... I sware it will get better. Erin Formor PUKER

I am only 5 weeks out and up until this week, I had the same problem. I have found that cheese and crackers work wonders for nausea. I can only eat 1 to 1 1/2 but the point is that I keep them down.
