medicare criteria

Well; This is the second time my surgery has been cancelled. The first time because my husband's insurance took first place over the medicare. Today because medicare changed it's criteria and won't cover it any more. I guess I am out of the deal. Tomorrow was my day to start the two week liquid and also my pre-admittance to the hospital. I give up. This was never meant to be. Good luck to all that are on medicare. Barb

Barb, Don't give up. Did they actually say the medicare wasn't covering the surgeries anymore or that they had to be performed at a bariatric center of excellance. That's the hospital it's done in. This was new rule in March that surprised all of the Drs. and hospitals. Currently there is one in Michigan, Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids. Jeanne
