insurance denial
I am just getting started with this process and need some advice on how to get approval. I just discovered that I have full medicaid coverage on top of my blue cross blue shield ppo. I have only had letters sent to bcbs and was denied until I complete their requirements which starts out with 3 months worth of dieting their way ( like I havent tried this already 1000 times). Does anyone know if medicaid would cover it? I have been afraid to see a surgeon because I don't want to go through all the testing etc. and then find out that I can't have the surgery because of insurance. Sure would appreciate any feed back anyone has about all of this and what they did to get approval.
Hello Darla,
You should go see the surgeon because most of the offices will assist you with getting everything you need to qualify. BCBS is one of the easiest to get approvals from. When they say they want proof of dieting they really mean has your doctor told you you needed to loose weight and have you lost weight in the past and then gained it back. These are all things that the surgeons office can help with. They know what the insurance company wants to hear and they will take care of most everything if not all of it for you.
I didn't have to fight with insurance at all and I had BCBS. I went to MMPC Center For Health Excellance in Grand Rapids. DR. Foote did my surgery and he was great!!!
Give it a shot...what do you have to loose except weight :0)
