Question on Scar Tissue Blockage

I am just 11 weeks out and had a problem keeping food down, turns out I have a scar tissue blockage in my esophagus. I have had dilation of my esophagus twice now and I am scheduled again next Wednesday. The nurse said it is not that uncommon to have it done 5 - 10 times depending on the scar tissue caused by the surgery. Has any one heard of this or know anyone who has had this problem. It has helped with the weight loss but I am 11 weeks out and still on soft foods. Thanks, Kristy

Hi Kristy, I am 4 1/2 months out and, I've had two strictures so far. They are easy to fix, just don't let them go for to long. I know three people that have each had 5 strictures so far. Most of what I eat are soft food's simply because I don't tolerate "heavy" food's very well. I finally ate 4 thin slices of turkey lunch meat yesterday with out a problem, but that doesn't mean I will tolerate it today. You will get there. Strictures have a tendency to set us back a little bit. Hang in 'cause "LIFE IS GOOD"! May God bless you, Annette

Thanks Annette I had never heard of this and was thinking I was one in a million. I will hang in there - my life has already improved 100% in the last few months . . . and getting better. Thanks again, Kristy

Hi Kristy, Man, I am sorry you are going thru this again!!! Yes, for some it can happen multipule times when others have never had any problems. It has a lot to do with the amount of keloids your body produces from what I have been told. I know it is very frustrating. I hope this will be the last you have to deal with this. Take care and God Bless---Toni
