Changing Surgical Offices?
Getting tired of the revolving door at the office? Never sure who you are going to talk to? If you want to change offices you can but beware that the office you are leaving may clip you for your charts.
I found this little tidbit.
>D. Charges. The health care provider may charge "no more than the actual cost of copying, including reasonable staff time, or the amount specified in administrative rule by the appropriate board." There is an administrative rule that limits charges for records of MD's to $1 per page for the first 25 pages, and then 25 cents per page thereafter (Rule 64B8-10.003). There is and identical rule for records of D.O.'s or Doctors of Osteopathy (Rule 64B8-15.003); Chiropractors (61F2-17.005); and Physical Therapists (61F11-6.005). To our knowledge there are no similar rules for the other office records governed by 455.667, so the charge should be the "actual cost of copying."
I got out before they charged me but it would have been worth the 25 bucks to get free. And there was a bonus!! When I looked at my chart I found out that my vaginal exam and tests came back negative. That's right kids. I'm clean as a whistle!!! I had some poor ladies results in my chart from the "other" place. It was sent back but boy was I surprised. I figure things like that can happen when your charts are shuffled from Illinois to Michigan. Now my stuff is all in one place, where it should be. Can anyone say HIPPA?

Yeah, I was freekin! Here I thought my secret was safe and the next thing you know,,,,,,, my life as a 49 year old african american woman was out. Seriously, what a huge mistake that is. I'm not supposed to be able to see someone elses medical history. It makes me wonder who has been in my chart while it was going back and forth to Illinois?

LOL, sorta. I once went to Kaiser, my California HMO, to find out if it was just my tonsils or strep giving me such a sore throat. They swabbed my throat and said they would be in touch. No response, no response, then finally a phone message saying I was definitely not pregnant. And they were right, I wasn't.
Then when Dr. Zeni said we could likely get pregnant after wls I began to panic, thinking he was going to do a reverse hysterectomy as well.
BTW, you were one of the first to respond to my request for questions to ask in my interview with the surgeon. Thanks so much for the help!
Surgery Date (if the insurance creek don't rise) May 31.
