Pain...how long about

This is a stupid question...but ...here goes anyway. About how long does the pain last from the surgery?

i had laprascopic roux en-y and was in mild pain for about 2 weeks. it hurt when i lay on my side or rolled over. but about a week after getting out of the hospital i was fine (except when i ate the wrong things, then it HURT.)

Hi Alanda, I think that it varies from person to person due to differences in pain threshold and perceptions of what pain is. Some people report no pain and yet others have a lot of discomfort. We're all different. Keeps things more interesting that way, right? As for your concerns about asking a stupid question - don't you know there is no such thing? Silly girl! Pain was not bad.. I only took pain meds once after coming home from the hospital I had open RNY with 24 staples.. I am 15 days out now and I have some discomfort but not really pain. Yes getting out of bed and rolling over make it a little more uncomfortable but not enough to need pain meds. But everyone is different. Good luck priscilla
