Has anyone experiense a stomach ulcer in your new pouch? I had a recent trip to the ER for 2 days and found out that its a stomach ulcer in my new pouch. I had severe chest/back pain and couldn't keep nothing down. They put a scope in me to see if I had food stuck, if my stoma closed up or an ulcer. I was a little out of it being put under and forgot to ask what was the cause, does anyone know. I have a follow up appointment next week with Dr. Kole to ask more questions but if anyone has an advise.

Hi Francine, I had my WLS last July, have lost over 100 lbs., and feel absolutely the best that I have in years. However, I was hospitalized for five days in February due to a gastric ulcer. I lost a lot of blood and received two units in the hospital. It was also discovered that I had extremely low potassium. I am doing much better now, but have been told that it will be 3-4 months before my energy is back to what it was before. I do not feel my ulcer is a result of the surgery although, even if it were, I would not do anything any differently. My ulcer was not the type caused by the h-pylori bacteria as over 70% of gastric ulcers are. Mine it is believed to have been the result of stress caused by some difficult personal cir****tances I am currently living with. Did you suffer significant blood loss or was it caught prior to that happening? Were you hospitalized? Are you on meds now to heal your stomach? You mentioned you had pain. I had none. Only fatigue. And I just thought that was due to stress etc. By the time it was obvious that somthing was seriously wrong I had already lost a considrable amount of blood and my condition deteriorated very quickly from there. So... don't play around with this. Internal bleeing can bring death very quickly. I am glad to hear you are seeing your dr. again soon. Please keep us posted as to your progress. Blessings. Hugzzz, Pam

Hi Pam, I am going thru the exact same thing, but they are having a difficult time finding anything. They did and EDG and a Colonoscopy and found nothing. They suspect an ulcer but can't find it. Where exactly is yours??? The next move is exploritory surgery and I don't want to have to go thru that. I had my pcp order labs and I am going to have them tested today to see where my blood level is. When I was in the hospital it was 6.8 and they gave me 2 pnts. but even with the blood I was still only at 9.5. Monday I was having sevear pain and yesturday I started feeling extremely fatigued. What is so weird the pain will come I will have it for several hrs and then it will leave as mystriously as it came. Weird huh? Anyway, if you could tell me where they located your ulcer and how they found it I would appreciate it. God Bless and thanks for your help.---Toni
