We need to be loud and proud of our choice of surgery and share it with others. We need to represent & show people that it is a very valid and wonderfull choice. No more keeping the DS a secret!!!! 
It is actually shocking at the amount of people I have encountered - preops and especially post-ops (which is completely sad & terrifying to me) that dont even know there is another option other than the RNY. I have even had to educate those in the medical professions (doctors/nurses/nutritionists) as well because they have no clue as to what a duodenal switch is.
There is so much misinformation out there about the DS and this way others can see first hand that those "rumors" are completely false. The DS is a much needed option for those who cannot or will not live with what the RNY offers. If you qualify for surgery, you qualify for the DS!!! It is not just for superobese people.
Education is always the key to enlightenment.
