It has been a very, very long time!

Hello everyone! I haven't been on OH in such a long time! I have to admit looking at some of the postings is that I don't recognize a lot of names!! Of course, I recognize my surgery sister Theresa! I miss you sister! Okay, one of the reasons that I am writing is first to just say hello and good luck to everyone that is waiting for their surgery day! Second, my daughter Leighsa is now looking into RNY for herself. She is 21 years old and in her 3rd year of college. I would like to know if there is anyone out there around her age??? I know that she has checked out OH and looked at a lot of the profiles. I am encouraging her to post on the message board but I thought until she does maybe I could connect her with some people her age. She lives in Saginaw. Does anyone know of any good support groups up there? She is looking into having it done at Henry Ford....same as her mom! Thanks everyone! Nancy

Thanks Jen! I know how hard it is when going to school and raising a family. That is what I did. Maybe we could get a few people together and car pool to the next meeting? What do you think? E-mail me if you are interested. I can drive...I have a truck that has a back seat. Just let me know. Nan

Hello Sis!!!!! So glad to see your smiling face! How are you doing? I'm trying to get back on track with eating right...it's an every day job it seems And about Leighsa, we know how hard it is to beat the weight and all the problems that go with it, so I think it's impowering when someone as young as Leighsa choses to make their life better sooner than we did. Tell her I wish her well on her journey...she has a good role model in her mother! And the best Doc ever! Let's hook up very soon....I am way overdue....how about you? Take care! Theresa

I am so overdue!! Maybe we could meet at the next support group meeting in Bay City? I am going to see if I can get Leighsa to go. Maybe she will go if I will. I miss you so much. Hi Nancy, We would love to have your daughter join our group in Bay City. It is usually held at Ruby Tuesday's the second Wed. of the month at 6:30. The dynamics of our group has changed so much. We have alot of new faces. Most of us are older, but we act like kids....LOL. Maybe you would like to come with her the first time anyway so that she would feel more comfortable. My daughter too is seriously thinking about the surgery, so if I know that your daughter will be there I will make sure Melanie is there too. She is also 21, and she is married. Toni, I am going to see if she will go to the next meeting. I think it would be great if your daughter would come. I think it would be nice if Leighsa could make a friend that they could share the journey together. I know I didn't really have one going into the journey but I had Theresa and OH after the surgery for that journey. I will need directions to get there. I will let you know for sure if Leighsa will go or not. I am guessing that she will though. Talk later. Nan
