Hello everyone. I am new here. I just made the decision today to start actively pursuing my weight loss goals with gastric surgery. If anyone has any tips or advice please feel free to express them.

Hello and WELCOME!! Don't ever give up on your goal of surgery! Ask lots of questions - as you think of them, write them down. NO question is a dumb one! DO what the doctor says! Make sure you are ready to accept all the things that come with this decision. Good luck!

Welcome to the best MB in the whole WWW... My best advise..... Take everyday one step at a time... sometimes its going to go fast and sometimes its going to feel like its moving backwards,, but you will eventually get to where you are going... and if you have any questions post them and someone will have the answer or they will be able to point you in the direction to find the answer... Again Welcome!! and I hope to see you posting soon... (((HUGS))) Dori

Hi Melinda, Welcome to the Michigan Board Family!!! You have come to the right place for great support and advice as well as OH is a wealth of info. My best advice at this point in your journey is to research, research, and research some more. Not only the surgeon, but the program, the hosptial and the after care. The other only piece of advice I can offer is to not only fix yourself physcially work on the mental part as well. This surgery is only a tool, we weren't obese, just because we ate to much. For MOST MO's food is our drug of choice. This is the part of this great surgery that most of these programs are missing. They think if they fix the physical the rest will follow....Not true. I am finding that many once we are futher out are starting to struggle to keep the weight off because we aren't taught how to deal with how we got MO in the first place. I want to wish you the best in your journey to the losing side. It IS an awesome journey, just take this opporutity to learn from those that have come before you. I wish we would have had the luxury....LOL. God Bless and take care----Toni

Hey! Welcome to the party. Tips and advice? Here? Nawwww,,,,, Not us! Here is my biggest tip - No matter what procedure, who will perform it or what your end goal is, start preparing now by getting used to the idea of changing forever in what you do, think and feel. Walk more now. Drink more water now. Get rid of the bad stuff now. Start a food log now. Try samples of bariatric type stuff now. In other words ther ain't no time like the present to get it going. Start thinking small meals frequently. We eat by habit and till we are full. I haven't felt full or hunger since my cut so I have to go by my schedule and quantity/quality. Right CHUCKIE?!?!?!? kp @ goal
