I hope some of you can help me with a few questions. 1. Is there a certain amount of carbs we should be watching out for? I have never been told anything about that, only the calories, water, protein, and fats. 2. Can a person actually drink to much water? If so is it a defeat in some way? 3. I had an address for getting my profile spruced up, I tried to send a request for it to be done. I don't know if it was received or how long it may take to hear about this. Maybe I need to check again and if so I would like the address again if possible. 4. Also has anyone heard of not being able to take capsules? Is it just in the beginning that you would have to open them up and sprinkle the meds on food or in drinks? I read something to that effect today and it didn't give a specific time, so it made it sound like gastric bypass patient's should never take capsules. Thanks so much for your help in advance. Hi Beth. I can answer number 1. Not too long ago we discussed carb intake and found that nearly everyone keeps it below 30g a day. The more carbs you eat, the slower your weight loss. I'll take a stab at #2 and say yes. But it's a LOT of water you'd have to drink..... not sure of the number although I've seen some here drink up to as much as 100oz a day. You can wash too many electrolites out of your body I believe. (not at the 100oz but with too much). #3 I don't know #4 I don't know, but I do know we can't take extended release meds. I am over 2 years out though. In the beginning, I crushed pills and opened capsules though. Your Dr. will tell you when you can begin swallowing them. I have no trouble at all and didn't really try to swallow any small pills till about 6 months out. But your Dr. will know best. Best of luck! Theresa

Hi Beth: I don't think that MMPC stresses about the carbs so much since they want you to concentrate on getting in those proteins. You kind of have to watch the fats (at least for me) since they make me feel sick. I think once you get in the meat, it's pretty difficult to over do it on the carbs. You could write Carrie about that at the following e-mail: [email protected] and she'll get right back with you. E-mail works best with them! You would really have to get a ton of water to get the ill effects of them. I have been getting in 72-76 oz. per day and just have the effect of peeing all the time. You're fine. If you take in caffiene, then you need to replace that with water, by the way. One cup of coffee, you need to replace that with one to two cups of water of decaf. It's a diurectic. To have your profile spruced up: [email protected] That's at the bottom of my profile, and I believe the correct address to have it done. They are taking up to two weeks to get this done, but if it's been more than that, e-mail them again. You are far enough out that capsules should be okay, as long as they are not TIME RELEASED. I had to really search for a non-time released B-12. I was using an under the tongue tablet, but ran out of them. The ones in Meijer's you have to be really careful about, but I did find one. I wish more vitamins were in liquid form for better absorbability. Take care and I hope this works out for lunch on the 5th! Love, Pam

HI Beth, As far as Carbs go, for me it depends on the type of carbs if they are good carbs i.e. fruit, veggies, whole grains. I usually don't worry about them to much. But simple carbs are the one's that I think we need to be carful with i.e. junk food. We should try to get in 60-80 grams of protien a day and no more then 30% of our calories should be from fat. With water we should try to get in at least 64oz. from what I have been taught. Go into someone elses profile and go to the bottom of there page and when you come to where it tells you the person that spruced up their page it will usually have a link to there email and you can get in touch with them that way. I have no problems taking pill at all. Any kind. Heck I will take 5-6 of them at once. Well I hope this helps. Take care and God Bless---Toni
