UPDATE MELISSA MCKENZIE
I talked to Melissa and her husband just now and all seems to be going well, with the exception of painful nausea. They seem to think that it is from the morphine PCA and hopefully will be switching her to something else. They took an exray this morning and there was no leaks, so they have her trying to munch on a popsicle.
Yes Toni, I am definetely on the road to recovery I am down 21 lbs from the day I came home, but I think that 4 or 5 lbs of that was water from the IV fluids.
Hi Jennifer,
She could be having issues with the anesthia(sp) I have a horrible problem with it. If they don't give me zofran (an anti-nauesa drug) I will be sick for days. I feel like I am dying, so whenever I have surgery I stress to EVERYONE to make sure they give me zofran. Please tell Melissa I hope she is feeling better soon, and to take care. God Bless---Toni
Well I am home, and thank you for your concern. It was definately from the Morphine. I got all itchy and blotchy from it too. They switched me to vicoden tablets, chopped up in 4 pieces. This is the hardest part for me since I was so used to drinking my pills down with a gulp of water and now I can't. This seems to be the hardest part so far... except for the swollen belly part. I dropped 2 pounds from surgery day to this afternoon before I left. Also, something very strange the dietician said they are starting everyone on full liquids as soon as they get home now. She said this had started about a week and a half ago. Not sure if I can handle that just yet, but I am doing what I have been told. I will post more when I feel a little more awake, kinda tired still.
Thanks again, Melissa
