Help! Why do I have this pain???

I have been having pain in my belly since last Monday. My son had bad stomach pain for 2 days so I thought that maybe I picked up his bug. But the pain remains. I do have a call into my surgeon but I wanted to ask if anyone else have ever experienced these symptoms because I've not read about any pain like I'm feeling. Let me start by saying I'm not nauseous, I can eat fine, I've had no problem with blockages, stuck food, eating/drinking doesn't make it feel better or worse. If it moved, I'd attribute it to gas.... but it doesn't move. I'm not gassy but even if I do burp or exhale from the other end, it doesn't change my pain. Now for the pain. Most of it is near my pouch. Sometimes it is more mid belly but it is from one side to the other and even sometimes throughout my back and stomach (I don't have my gallbladder anymore.). The pain is intense when I stand but mild to not even there when I'm laying down or sitting. I've had to take Tylenol to manage the pain. It FEELS like really BAD gas pains. The pain is not consistant. Sometimes (more often than not) it's there and other times I'm fine. When I cough, it HURTS no matter if I'm standing, sitting or laying down. Any thoughts? I think the weirdest is that it comes on / gets worse when I stand. I haven't been getting my water in like I should be - I'm not convinced that that is the cause however. My hernia has also returned ... .could that be part of it? Granted the pain isn't where the hernia is, the coughing does hurt it and the other area that I'm having problems with. Hi Sheryl, I am having the same problem, except I have also had black tar stool. They are suspecting an ulcer in my remnant stomach, but they are still doing tests. I know of a couple of others that are going thru this but, one didn't have the BTS and one has it terribly....so the symptoms may very. I would definately get it checked out asap. I had an EDG done already and everything is great in there, so friday I have to do a colonoscopy....Yipppy...LOL. I am not saying you are having the same problem, but you are definately discribing the same pain I have. Take care and call your surgeon. God Bless---Toni

See this is exactly what I'm afraid of.... scopes up (and down) the ying yang. Pre-op I've never had any hint at ulcers and I'm on nexium. Looks like pain wise, we're in the same boat. Hi Sheryl: I called my doc's office Sat. morning before going to the restaurant with almost exactly the pains you are describing. He thinks it's an ulcer, and put me on Prevacid. It hurt right below my breastbone (center) then felt crampy in the intestines, and shot around to my back. The pain was too low to be the gall bladder (I still have mine). I have been pain free all day today and part of Sunday, so it does seem to be the answer for me. They didn't need to do a scope at this point, just wanted to shut down the acid producers. It got better as long as I had food in my pouch, too. I did have pretty bad gas pains with this, but since I've been on the Prevacid, that seems gone mostly, too. So, you might be able to just call and get a prescription from your doctor. Let me know how it goes. Don't try to tough it out, we don't want you getting worse! Love, Pam

Hi Pam. I'm on nexium and unfortunately food in the ole pouch doesn't seem to make a difference. It's a relief to know however that others have also felt similar pains. I'm anxious to see what my surgeon says (but I sure don't want scoped!) ... I've felt so GREAT up to now... with absolutely no problems. I know this pain is a real pain! Thanks Annette! Right now it feels like I've been punched in the stomach. I think my biggest fear is that the hernia has caused a twist in the intestines.
