I usually walk at a very brisk pace. When the weather is nice I average 3 miles most days but when I am on the tread mill, i usually do 30-40 minutes to a cadence tape from the Marine Corps. "The sarg" can be very motivating!! I have tried DESPERATLY to rollerblade but I don't seem to have much of a sence of balance. Any pointers any one?? I guess I need to read rollerblading for dummies..... ?? Katie

Hi Katie, I started taking skating lessons on Tuesday morning's. The trick is to bend your knees, so you can't see your feet (or toes), Keep your weight on your foot from the ball to the heal~ forget you have toes. All the work is done by the botom half of your body, the top is just along for the ride. At first you hold your arms out to the side fingers straight lean forward a little bit. You can try that for now. Our Instructor recomends roller skates to start out on. I started with blades though. I do skates at the lessons. I love blades/skates, and my new life. Hope this helps. God bless you, Annette

I tried the lessons, but it did not seem to help. I have not given up yet though. I think I put that on my secret pal questionaire when they asked what was the one thing I wanted to accomplish this year. (I guess I am not sure why I wanted my secret pal to know I could not rollerblade, but I did..) I think I would REALLY enjoy it. Thanks for the tips, I will give them a try.If anyone sees the rollerblade fairy, send her my way, please. Katie

I have 4 more weeks before surgery and I had an eliptical but it was kind of cheap and my big butt broke that (lol). So I just bought a new treadmill this weekend and I love it. I have walked one mile in the morning and one mile in the evening since I bought the thing. Since it has shock absorbers my leg and feet does not hurt when I get off of the thing.

I like to swim, because it's easiest on my joints, but lately I've been so tired and achy I'm having problems getting motivated. Now I have a cold. If I can ever feel healthy again, I will get back in the pool. That will help move along my weight loss. Eileen

I work out at least 4x per week. Well, I'm off for the next 6 weeks because I'm having PS tomorrow... Typically I do an hour each time. I work out at Lifetime Fitness - I usually take the classes. I do something of the following: cycle, cardio kickboxing, weight training & cardio w/heavy resistance training. When the weather is warm I'll go for a 10-12 mile bike ride (sometimes pulling my boys in the bike trailer). I really think exercise is the key to losing the weight & then keeping it off. Plus I just feel SO much better when I do exercise. I know that had I not developed the habit of exercising prior to surgery & immediately after surgery (I was back at the gym 4 days post-op), I wouldn't have lost the amount of weight that I did. Take care, Nicole -195lbs!
